YOUR PHOTOS STAY YOURS
Privacy Policy
Draft · Last updated September 4, 2026
Pre-release notice: this policy describes the current Markly app and this static website. The publisher’s legal identity must be added and contact-form handling practices confirmed before public launch. This draft is not a statement about unimplemented future services.
1. Scope
Markly is an iPhone app for adding watermarks to photos. This policy explains how information is handled in the current app and on the Markly website. “We” refers to the publisher of Markly, whose legal details will be provided before launch.
2. Photos and editing
The app processes selected photos and watermark assets on your device. It does not upload them to a Markly server. You select photos through Apple’s photo picker or select files through the system file picker. The app uses those selections to preview and export watermarked copies; it does not modify your original photos.
Full-size imported photos are held for the editing session. Saved project records can include a preview thumbnail, watermark settings, embedded logo images, brand content, export settings and project details. They are not complete, full-resolution editable photo backups.
3. Information stored on your device
The app locally stores reusable brands, presets, templates and recent project records so you can use them again. If you put a name, email address, phone number, social handle or other personal information in a watermark, that information can be included in these saved records and exported images. The current app retains up to 20 recent project records.
File exports can also create temporary image files in the app’s storage. Temporary files may remain until replaced, removed by the operating system, or deleted with the app. We do not promise immediate removal after sharing.
4. Permissions and sharing
- Selected photos and files: used only to import the content you choose for editing.
- Save to Photos: the app requests permission to add exported images to your photo library.
- Sharing: when you choose a destination in the system share sheet, the selected files are sent to that destination at your direction. Its provider’s privacy practices apply.
You can review photo permissions in iOS Settings. Apple’s Photos, iCloud, device backups and any cloud file provider may process or sync data according to your settings and their own policies. See Apple’s Photos & Privacy information.
5. Accounts, advertising and analytics
The current app does not require a Markly account and does not include advertising, tracking SDKs or app analytics. We do not receive your photos or saved watermark content through the app, and do not sell or share that content for advertising. Apple may independently process App Store, purchase or diagnostic information under its own settings and policies.
6. This website and contact form
The website itself does not implement sign-in, analytics scripts, advertising trackers or application cookies. Site fonts and images are local or system-provided. The Contact page is an exception to local-only resources: it embeds a Google Form, which loads only when you visit that page, not when browsing the home or legal pages.
Opening Contact connects your browser to Google. Google may process technical information and use cookies according to its own policies and your settings. If you submit the form, its owner receives the information you provide, which may include your contact details and message, to handle your inquiry. Do not include passwords or sensitive photos. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Contact submissions are separate from photos processed locally in the app. We use information provided in an inquiry to respond and resolve the request, and retain it only as needed for that purpose or applicable legal obligations. The publisher must confirm operational retention and deletion procedures before public launch. You can request access, correction or deletion through the contact form.
When hosted on Vercel, the hosting provider may process technical request information, such as IP address, browser information and request logs, to deliver and secure the website. Hosting data is distinct from photos edited in the app. Provider retention and processing are governed by its services and configuration; see Vercel’s Privacy Notice.
7. Retention, deletion and your choices
You can delete saved brands, templates where supported, and recent projects in the app. Deleting a project does not delete copies already exported to Photos, Files or another service. Remove those separately at their destinations.
Deleting the app (not merely offloading it) removes its local app data from that installation. Device or cloud backups may retain copies under your backup settings. We cannot access or remotely delete your device’s local content. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of personal information, or complain to a relevant privacy authority.
8. Security and children
Local processing reduces the need to transfer photos, but no device or storage method is completely secure. Protect your device and check the contents of images before sharing them. Markly is not specifically directed at children, and the current app has no mechanism for collecting personal information from children on our servers.
9. Changes
We will update this page if our data practices change and revise the date above. Features that introduce new data processing will need corresponding disclosures and any required permission before use.
10. Contact & requests
For support or privacy requests, use our contact form. Include only the information needed to understand and respond to your request. The publisher’s legal identity is still pending in this pre-release draft and must be supplied before public launch.
